As a reminder: Blackboard is unavailable daily beginning at 5 am for a restart. Usually the restart takes less than 30 minutes.
Do not be alarmed if your courses say “Not Currently Available”. This only means that you cannot enter the site. You are still registered for the class.
Within Blackboard, instructors have the ability to not make their course available. This allows the instructor to prepare the site prior to the semester without users (students) accessing the site.
If the semester has begun and the course is not available, please contact the instructor to remind them to make the site available to students.
When course sites are created, they are by default made unavailable to students. When the course site is ready for student access, faculty need to make the course site available to the students.
The document, “Is my Blackboard site available to my students? How do I make my course site available?”, will tell you how to make the changes.
If Blackboard is not behaving as you think it should, check to see if your browser is the issue. This site runs a check on your system as soon as you go to the page. It also tells you if you have all of the necessary plug-ins to run Blackboard properly.
